Firstly I construct an abstract form using found pieces, often from a single location such as a woodland, beach or garden.
To develop the character and shape of the piece, I use leaves, bark, acorns, twigs, lichens, seeds etc, fixed together with adhesives and preserved with layers of shellac.
These finished pieces are then taken to a London foundry where they are vacuum cast into bronze, chased and then finally patinated.
Process . . .
“The Corset” in its original form.
At the Foundry, after casting.
